Arthritis, also called degenerative joint disease or osteoarthritis, is a chronic, painful, and progressive condition involving the joints. As with people, it is commonly associated with aging, and impacts cats over 12 years old. Arthritis takes years to develop, causing many changes in the joints. These changes lead to swelling, inflammation, and pain.
